Who we are
Documenting Gender Apartheid is a project operated by Sic Publishing AS.
For questions about privacy or the personal information we hold, contact:
Information you give us
When you use the general contact form, we may receive your name, email address, reason for contacting us and the message you send.
The Your Story form may ask for the name you would like us to use, a safe way to contact you, your preferred language and a short optional message.
We ask people not to include sensitive testimony or detailed personal information in either web form.
Why we use this information
We use information submitted through the website to:
- reply to questions and correspondence;
- respond to media, event, partnership and publication enquiries;
- communicate with people interested in taking part in the project;
- arrange further conversations where appropriate;
- operate and protect the website and project.
We process personal information only where there is an appropriate legal basis for the particular purpose.
Your Story and interviews
Contacting the project does not give us permission to publish your story or use your testimony publicly.
If you decide to take part in an interview, we will explain separately how the interview will be recorded, stored and potentially used. Questions about identification, anonymity, publication and consent are discussed before material is made public.
Interview recordings, transcripts and material intended for publication are therefore subject to a separate participant and consent process.
Email and service providers
General contact-form messages are delivered to the project email account.
Messages sent through the Your Story form are delivered directly to Fatemeh Ekhtesari so that she can respond personally.
Email delivery and storage may involve our email service providers, including Proton and, for direct correspondence with Fatemeh, Google/Gmail.
Our hosting and technical providers may also process limited technical information where necessary to operate and secure the website.
Technical information
Like most websites, the server may process technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages, timestamps and error or security information.
This information is used for website operation, troubleshooting and security.
How long we keep information
We keep contact correspondence only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the enquiry, project administration or any continuing relationship with the person concerned.
If an enquiry develops into participation in an interview or publication, the relevant material is handled according to the separate arrangements agreed with that participant.
Some information may need to be retained where required by law or where necessary to establish or defend legal rights.
Who can access your information
Access is limited to people working on the project who need the information for the purpose for which it was provided, together with technical or email providers where necessary to deliver the service.
We do not sell personal information.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- receive a copy of that information;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete information;
